We are in the first phase of our reopening plan! Senior Centers, due to the additional staffing help they can provide, are reopening quite well! We have not promoted these classes because we did not want to encourage large groups to attend if they didn't previously attend at that location, overwhelming the Centers with traffic they didn't previously have. And since all the centers have a notification system of their own, we opted to keep out of it.

Next phase will be the reopening of Libraries and Churches. At this time we are not exactly sure when that will be. We do not foresee it taking too long for that phase to begin though!

Like all of us here in Rhode Island, you are likely paying very close attention to the information coming out daily regarding the potential spread of Coronavirus in our state.

The Village at Waterman Lake is in close and regular communication with the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH), a communication stream that enables us to stay abreast of all information regarding Coronavirus, via accurate and real time updates and directives. This real time state-wide, industry-branching info enables us to understand and support the concerted and organized efforts to curtail, slow and hopefully stop the spread of this new virus.

We are currently adhering to any and all directives from both the RIDOH and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) with the understanding that precautionary and preventative measures are the current best method to protect against an outbreak in our state.

All of this said, based on our current understanding, it does seem that seniors are likely particularly vulnerable to the potentially life-threatening complications this virus might cause. Therefore, while the information and statistics are still being worked out at the government level, we are choosing to enact some cautionary protocols that will protect our residents and our BoneBuilder participants and Leaders.

We have decided it would be best to cancel all classes, starting next week, and continuing through the end of April. At that time we will reevaluate the situation and, hopefully, continue our regular schedules if we feel we are well enough in the clear.

We are extremely sorry for this inconvenience but feel every cautionary step we can take to halt the spread is one worth taking.
